High tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel

Katie High Tea

Sunday Morning Tea at Mount Nelson Hotel felt like a childhood dream. We walked into an ornate hotel, high ceilings, plush couches and armchairs. The gold-vested waiter politely introduced himself and gave us the black leather menus, filled with an abundant selection of loose leaf teas. We tried all kinds, from sweet Vanilla Rooibos to deep Japanese Oolong to a dark Earl Grey. As the tea brews, we reminisced about our favorite American childhood television, unveiling some past crushes on Doug Funny, Otto Rocket, Hey Arnold (all of whom are cartoons, I might add).   When the tea was ready, the waiter served us platters of finger sandwiches, croissants, pastries and cakes. It was a light, sweet and satisfying meal (though, if you have a big appetite, you may want to wait for the all-you-can-eat High Afternoon Tea).

After tea, we played on the standing swing in the back, and the walked around the gardens across the road. We rolled back to Rondebosch (completely giddy) by 3 PM, with plenty of time for homework, church, yoga and skype sessions. We'll definitely be back!

Great job on this blog. I think that your perspective is deep, it’s just well thought out and really fantastic to see someone who knows how to put these thoughts down so well. Great stuff here.
